Flat Carpenter Pencil

A flat, faceted carpenter's pencil with a wide rectangular black lead. The wooden barrel is about 178 mm long and 15 mm wide. The flat profile stops it rolling off a workbench or roof, and the bold lead shows clearly on boards, timber and plasterboard.

This is a promotional item that really gets used on site. Building supply stores add it to orders, timber frame manufacturers hand it to crews, and roofers and fitters give it to customers with a tape measure. At construction trade shows it disappears faster than pens.
